Prospectors’ members overwhelmingly approved our merger with Certified Federal Credit Union on October 16, 2024.

What’s next?

As a member-owned credit union, the final decision to merge was in your hands, our esteemed members. Your overwhelming support has paved the way for us to move forward with this exciting venture.

  • Now that we are one entity, our logo and member documents will begin to include the name “Prospectors Federal Credit Union, A Division of Certified Federal.”
  • Most members will see changes once we integrate our systems on February 1, 2025. If a change occurs before this time, we’ll contact you well in advance to inform you.
  • Rest assured, you’ll continue to enjoy the same services and benefits at Prospectors until our systems integrate on February 1, 2025. There’s no need for any immediate action on your part. As system integration approaches, members will receive a comprehensive merger support guide with information regarding any upcoming changes and helpful resources and guidance.
  • If you’re a member of both credit unions, you’ll be able to transact between your Prospectors and Certified accounts following system integration after February 1, 2025.
  • Prospectors members can begin using Certified branches after February 1, 2025, after we’ve integrated our operations and systems. We can’t wait to offer you 11 locations and a phone center with extended hours! We’ll share an update when they’re all available.
  • Shared Branching and its 5,600 nationwide locations will also be available to you after our System Integration on February 1, 2025.

We are committed to keeping you informed and involved throughout this transition. You can expect regular updates and outreach as we work to minimize any impact on your banking experience.

Members will enjoy new and greater benefits beginning February 1, 2025

This merger is not just about change; it’s about growth and improvement. It gives us the scale and resources to deliver on what our members have been asking for, years ahead of schedule. You’ll begin to enjoy these benefits following the integration of our operations and systems on February 1, 2025:

More Branches. Members will have access to 11 branches in Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, and San Bernardino Counties. No branches will be closed. You can still visit us at Diamond Bar or West Covina.

Extended phone support. Extended contact center hours (M-F, 7 am – 7 pm).

Enhanced products and services. We expect to return more value to members through better products and services, market-leading rates, low fees, and complimentary services.

Improved digital banking. We’ll have the resources to invest in more technology and provide members with improved digital tools now and in the future.

Free financial counseling and education through BALANCE. Financial wellness is important at both credit unions, and this creates a multiplying effect. Certified has partnered with industry-leading BALANCE to provide free access to expertly crafted financial education and resources to help with your fiscal matters. Should you need it, BALANCE can assist you with confidential, no-cost financial counseling services to help you develop a sensible budget for managing spending and debt.

Same knowledgeable, caring employees. We’re not going anywhere. You’ll see the same friendly faces, just in more places.
